King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center Delivers 100 Tons of Dates to El Salvador


San Salvador, August 23, 2024 — On Tuesday, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) made a significant contribution to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) by delivering 100 tons of dates to the Republic of El Salvador. This gesture highlights the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing commitment to global humanitarian efforts.


The handover took place at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in San Salvador and was attended by prominent figures, including Abdullah Al-Saqr, the representative of the Saudi embassy in the United Mexican States and non-resident ambassador to El Salvador; Salvadoran Minister of Education Jose Mauricio Pineda; Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office of International Relations Willian Alexander Deleon Flores; and Riaz Lodhi, the WFP representative and country director in El Salvador. Al-Saqr and Lodhi signed the memorandum of delivery for the shipment, formalizing the aid.


Al-Saqr conveyed gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their generosity. He commended KSrelief for its meticulous oversight and implementation of humanitarian programs designed to assist those in need across the globe. The contribution underscores Saudi Arabia's humanitarian leadership and its role in addressing the needs of both brotherly and friendly nations.


Minister Pineda expressed heartfelt thanks for the donation, noting that the dates would significantly benefit over 250,000 students through the school feeding program, which supports 1,038 schools in El Salvador. This initiative is part of a broader series of humanitarian programs spearheaded by the Kingdom, aimed at providing aid to the most vulnerable populations worldwide.
