Marib, Yemen, December 28, 2024 — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) continues to make significant strides in providing vital healthcare services to those affected by the ongoing conflict in Yemen. One of the key initiatives, the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center Project in Yemen’s Marib Governorate, delivered essential medical services to individuals who have lost limbs. In November 2024 alone, the center provided comprehensive care to 453 beneficiaries, offering a variety of services aimed at restoring mobility and improving quality of life for those affected by amputation.
Throughout the month, a total of 1,829 medical services were delivered. These services were distributed among both men and women, with 65% of beneficiaries being male and 35% female. Notably, 18% of the recipients were displaced individuals, while the remaining 82% were residents of the local area. This reflects the project’s broad impact, addressing the needs of both displaced populations and local communities that have been devastated by the conflict.
The range of services provided through the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center included the fitting and rehabilitation of prosthetic limbs, physical therapy, and specialized consultations tailored to each individual's needs. These services are crucial in helping patients regain independence and return to a semblance of normal life, despite the devastating impacts of war. Prosthetic fittings not only enable recipients to regain mobility but also offer a sense of dignity and self-sufficiency.
In addition to the technical and medical support, the center offers comprehensive rehabilitation programs that include physical therapy to help individuals adjust to their new prosthetics and build strength. These programs play an essential role in ensuring that the beneficiaries can fully integrate their new prosthetics into daily life, enhancing their physical functionality and emotional well-being.
This ongoing medical assistance is a part of KSrelief's broader commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, particularly those who have been severely affected by the conflict. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, continues to implement a wide range of humanitarian initiatives aimed at enhancing the health sector’s capabilities and addressing the critical needs of vulnerable populations. The Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center Project exemplifies Saudi Arabia’s enduring support for Yemen’s recovery and its commitment to providing much-needed healthcare and rehabilitation services in war-torn areas.
The success of the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center reflects not only the importance of immediate medical aid but also the long-term impact of such programs in helping individuals rebuild their lives. As the conflict in Yemen continues, KSrelief’s efforts remain vital in offering hope, improving healthcare access, and promoting rehabilitation, all of which are essential for the healing and recovery of the Yemeni people.
