The "Awn Al-Haram" initiative, launched by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque, provides large electric vehicles with ramps to assist people with disabilities in navigating the Grand Mosque and surrounding areas.

Makkah, January 1, 2025 – The "Awn Al-Haram" (Al-Haram Aid) initiative, launched by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, has emerged as a groundbreaking and essential service, revolutionizing accessibility for individuals with disabilities within the Grand Mosque. This program introduces innovative solutions designed to ease movement and ensure that all visitors, regardless of their physical limitations, can fully participate in the religious experiences at one of Islam's holiest sites.

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque outlined the details of the initiative, which operates by deploying large electric vehicles equipped with ramps specifically designed to accommodate people with various disabilities. These vehicles are a crucial part of the accessibility efforts, enabling smooth and efficient movement throughout the expansive courtyards of the Grand Mosque. From designated points, trained staff assist individuals with disabilities in boarding the vehicles, ensuring safe and convenient transportation.

The initiative's reach extends beyond just the courtyards of the Grand Mosque, covering important areas such as the Jarwal Tunnel. This ensures that individuals with disabilities can access vital areas of the mosque complex, benefiting from a comprehensive service that prioritizes their ease of movement and participation in activities.

In the year 1445 AH alone, the "Awn Al-Haram" initiative assisted a total of 46,590 individuals with disabilities, making a significant impact on their ability to experience the mosque's sacred environment. The presidency emphasized its unwavering commitment to ensuring the satisfaction of visitors and pilgrims with disabilities, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment marked by care and attention to each individual's unique needs.
