A 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck Ishikawa Prefecture and surrounding central Japan regions, with no tsunami warnings issued.

Tokyo, November 27, 2024 – A powerful earthquake, registering a magnitude of 6.6, struck

the Ishikawa Prefecture and several other central regions of Japan earlier today, sending shockwaves through the area. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers, with its epicenter located in the northern Hokuriku region, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Despite the strong tremor, no tsunami warnings were issued, and authorities have confirmed that the region's infrastructure, including critical facilities, has largely withstood the seismic event. Hokuriku Electric Power Company, in a statement, assured the public that there was no damage to the Shika Nuclear Power Station in Ishikawa, which operates in proximity to the epicenter.

As of now, there have been no reported casualties or significant damage from the earthquake, although local authorities are continuing to assess the situation. Emergency response teams remain on high alert to ensure public safety and to address any unforeseen issues that may arise in the coming hours. The Japan Meteorological Agency continues to monitor the situation closely, with further updates expected if necessary.
