Sydney, March 31, 2025 – A 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the Tonga Islands in the Pacific Ocean today, triggering warnings of possible tsunami waves.
The United States Geological Survey reported that hazardous tsunami waves generated by the quake could impact areas within a 300-kilometer radius of the epicenter along Tonga’s coasts.
