Khartoum, March 5, 2025 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has distributed 800 food baskets in Sudan’s Khartoum State, benefiting a total of 5,708 individuals. This distribution marks the third phase of the Food Security Support Project in Sudan for 2025, which is aimed at providing essential food assistance to displaced populations under the Voluntary Return Programme.
The Voluntary Return Programme specifically targets individuals who are returning to their homes in various states across Sudan, including Gezira, Khartoum, Red Sea, Sennar, and White Nile. As part of the broader initiative, KSrelief plans to distribute 30,000 food baskets throughout Sudan, ensuring that the most vulnerable communities receive the support they urgently need.
This initiative is a critical part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis. By providing vital food aid, KSrelief not only addresses the immediate needs of displaced families but also supports their long-term recovery and reintegration into their home communities.
The distribution of food baskets is a vital component of KSrelief’s comprehensive strategy to mitigate food insecurity and support vulnerable populations, particularly those affected by conflict and displacement. The food baskets contain essential staples, ensuring that families have the necessary resources to sustain themselves during these difficult times.
As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to global humanitarian aid, KSrelief continues to play a pivotal role in addressing the growing needs of displaced individuals in Sudan. The organization’s sustained presence and efforts in Sudan are a testament to Saudi Arabia’s dedication to alleviating the suffering of those affected by conflict, famine, and displacement worldwide.
This project reflects KSrelief’s larger vision of providing comprehensive humanitarian support and fostering peace and stability in crisis-affected regions. Through its continued work, KSrelief remains a key player in the global response to humanitarian crises, offering hope and assistance to those who need it most.
