Riyadh, February 18, 2025 – A delegation from the General Court of Audit (GCA) of Saudi Arabia recently concluded a successful visit to two prominent auditing agencies: the Office of the Auditor-General of New Zealand and the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia. The visit took place from February 11 to 17, with the aim of fostering international collaboration and learning from the expertise of these esteemed institutions.

The delegation, led by Eng. Hazim Algethami, the Executive Deputy for Planning and Development at the GCA, was accompanied by a group of specialists from various departments within the organization. During their time in New Zealand and Indonesia, the GCA representatives engaged in a series of meetings and discussions that focused on enhancing the knowledge exchange in the field of financial auditing and public sector accountability.

The primary objective of this visit was to leverage the extensive experience of both the Office of the Auditor-General of New Zealand and the Audit Board of Indonesia, two institutions renowned for their robust practices in financial auditing, compliance, and performance auditing. The GCA delegation sought to learn from their counterparts’ methods in ensuring transparency, improving financial data management, and enhancing auditing processes in the public sector.

Throughout the week-long visit, the delegation participated in detailed sessions focused on how both organizations effectively manage complex financial data, maintain stringent auditing standards, and ensure compliance with international regulations. The goal was to explore innovative auditing methodologies and discuss best practices that could be implemented within the GCA to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Saudi Arabia’s own auditing processes.

The GCA’s visit is a part of its continued efforts to modernize and enhance its auditing capabilities, aligning with global standards and fostering stronger collaboration between international auditing bodies. As Saudi Arabia continues to implement the objectives of Vision 2030, strengthening institutions such as the GCA plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and good governance within the Kingdom's public sector.

This exchange of knowledge and best practices underscores the importance of international cooperation in the field of public auditing. The GCA’s commitment to adopting global standards will further support the Kingdom's ambitious reforms, contributing to the sustainable growth and modernization of the nation's institutions.

By fostering such international partnerships, the GCA is not only improving its own operations but is also contributing to the broader global effort to ensure effective public financial management and accountability. The visit exemplifies the GCA’s proactive approach to adopting best practices and enhancing its capacity to carry out its mission of overseeing Saudi Arabia’s public finances.
