RIYADH April 1, 2025: Madinah's central market serves as a major shopping hub, supplying thousands of stores and functioning as a logistics center with hundreds of trucks delivering both local and imported goods.
This dynamic marketplace continues Madinah’s long-standing commercial legacy, which dates back to the time of Prophet Muhammad, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Historically, Madinah has been a bustling commercial center, known for its famous markets that offered textiles, gold, dates, and other goods for residents, pilgrims, and Umrah performers.
Spanning 160,000 square meters, the market serves the city's growing demands and houses over 1,100 shops, storage areas for agricultural products, cold storage facilities, and spaces for displaying fruits and vegetables.
It also provides parking for refrigerated trucks, ensuring the efficient handling and display of fresh produce, as reported by the SPA.
This infrastructure enables the central market to distribute large quantities of fruits and vegetables while keeping prices competitive under the supervision of the Madinah municipality.
