April 5, 2025 – A magnitude 4 earthquake struck the Arabian Gulf off Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province in the early hours of Friday morning.
The Saudi Geological Survey detected the tremor at its seismic stations and located it 55 km east of Jubail, according to a spokesperson speaking to Arab News.
The earthquake was attributed to stress from the movement of the Arabian tectonic plate colliding with the Eurasian plate.
The spokesperson assured that the quake was minor and confirmed that the situation in the Kingdom remains safe.
