Abha, May 13, 2024, Rain in Asir Region creates a lovely background for blooming Jacaranda trees, famous in the city of Abha and other parts of the region during spring and early summer.
Tourists and visitors are always captivated by the purple-flowered Jacarandas, like the ones on Art Street, in Abha, which become natural paintings when rain showers grace the vibrant trees.
Jacaranda trees, part of the Bignoniaceae family, count some 45 species. In cold areas, they are deciduous, but in temperate regions they stay evergreen. They can grow over 18 meters tall and can reach 3 meters in their first year. These fast-growing trees with irregular spread are widely planted in streets and gardens for shade and decoration due to their high growth rate.
Their cultivation in the Kingdom is limited to temperate areas, like the southern region, due to the unsuitability of the climate in most parts of the country.
The Asir Region, particularly Abha, boasts over 15,000 Jacaranda trees and continues to witness a growing demand for planting them in public gardens and near residents' homes.
