The wind turbine and generator installation was executed by China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC), an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor. In a significant development, CEEC (Central Eurasian Energy Corporation) has been granted the esteemed Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for both the Bash and Dzhankeldy wind farms. Each of these wind farms boasts an impressive capacity of 500 MW. The momentous announcement was made on December 7, 2022. In a statement regarding the recent announcement, Kashif Rana, the Chief Portfolio Management Officer (CPMO) of ACWA Power, expressed his enthusiasm for the significant progress made on the Bash wind farm. Rana highlighted the successful installation of the first turbine as a noteworthy milestone among the numerous achievements that lie ahead for the project. In a significant development, the steady progress made brings us one step closer to supporting and actively contributing to Uzbekistan's ambitious long-term goal of augmenting the proportion of renewable energy sources in their energy portfolio. The Bash wind farm, slated for completion in the first quarter of 2025, is set to become a significant player in the renewable energy sector. With a total of 79 wind turbine generators (WTG), this ambitious project aims to harness the power of wind to generate an impressive annual electricity output of over 1,650 GWh. In addition to its substantial energy production, the Bash wind farm is projected to have a substantial environmental impact by curbing carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 750 metric tons per year. ACWA Power, a leading international developer and operator of power generation and water desalination projects, has recently secured a significant 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan. This agreement marks a major milestone for ACWA Power, as it solidifies their commitment to the development of sustainable energy solutions in the region. Under the terms of the PPA, ACWA Power will be responsible for supplying a substantial amount of power to the national grid of Uzbekistan for the next quarter of a century.
