Riyadh, April 29, 2024, The Agricultural Development Fund (ADF) recently showcased its pivotal role in financing aquaculture projects at the 2024 Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona. This prestigious event, held from April 23 to 25, provided an international platform for ADF to underscore its contributions to food security and sustainable resource management within the fish and seafood production sector.
As part of the Kingdom's pavilion organized by the National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program, ADF was represented alongside six prominent Saudi companies specializing in fish and seafood production. The pavilion served as a testament to Saudi Arabia's burgeoning interest and investment in aquaculture initiatives.
ADF's focus at the expo centered on highlighting its support for various fishery activities, encompassing fish hatcheries, shrimp farming, floating cages, aquaponics, and inland fish farming. By facilitating financial assistance and technical expertise, ADF plays a crucial role in fostering the growth and development of aquaculture projects across the Kingdom.
The participation of ADF in such international forums underscores the promising potential of aquaculture ventures, which have emerged as a rapidly expanding sector in global food production. Saudi Arabia's extensive coastlines, particularly along the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf, offer ideal conditions for fish farming in floating cages. Furthermore, the presence of closed inland water systems presents opportunities for freshwater aquaculture, contributing to the diversification and sustainability of the Kingdom's food production landscape.
