Jeddah, President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA First Deputy Chairman, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, has extended congratulations to the Kingdom for the outstanding success in hosting the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.
The tournament concluded on Friday in Jeddah with the crowning of the English team Manchester City, securing the title after defeating the Brazilian team Fluminense.
Al Khalifa pointed out that the Saudi success in hosting the prestigious tournament is a success for the entire Asian continent.
He indicated that it reflects the significant support the Saudi sports receive from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the priority given to sports in the Saudi Vision 2030, led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al Khalifa said that this success enhances the Kingdom’s position on the international football map, highlighting its competence in hosting global football events.
He added that it is attributed to the Kingdom's attractive environment for such activities, advanced infrastructure, accumulated organizational expertise, and a skilled workforce capable of managing the organizational process effectively.
Moreover, Al Khalifah commended the endeavors of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Sports, and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), headed by Yasser Al-Misehal, in ensuring success for the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.
