AFC supports Saudi 2034 World Cup bid at 2023 Congress

Riyadh, October 19, 2023, At the 2023 AFC Extraordinary Congress, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) expressed its endorsement for Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2034 World Cup. AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa presided over this virtual event, graced by the presence of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) President Yasser Al-Misehal.


President Al-Misehal extended his gratitude to the AFC and the member associations supporting Saudi Arabia's aspiration to host the 2034 World Cup. He further emphasized the Kingdom's commitment to crafting a compelling proposal that mirrors the substantial progress achieved in Saudi and Asian football.


Additionally, the AFC member associations elected Bandar Al-Hamidani, Chairman of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, as a member of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, serving from 2023 to 2027. This decision underscores Saudi Arabia's growing influence within the AFC.
