AGFUND Delegation Takes Active Role in COP28 Discussions in Dubai

The Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), led by its president, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz, is actively participating in COP28 events hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Dubai from November 30th to December 12th, 2023.

AGFUND's involvement, alongside key strategic partners, features a dedicated pavilion hosting panel sessions on crucial topics, including enhancing food security through smallholder farmers, energy transition, and clean cooking, as well as the role of civil society in climate change. The sessions will include experts, UN and international organization representatives, and heads of institutions from the Arab Coordination Group (ACG) and AGFUND's sister institutions.

In addition to the COP28 activities, AGFUND will host the Award Ceremony of the Prince Talal International Prize on December 4th, honoring the winning projects for 2022. The one million US dollars prize recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of "Decent Work and Economic Growth," aligning with the 8th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals.

This marks AGFUND's second participation in COP, following its engagement in COP27 last year in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. During that conference, AGFUND held the ceremony for the Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development in the field of "Climate Action," the 13th Sustainable Development Goal.

The nomination process for the Prize 2023 is ongoing, focusing on "Life on Land," the 15th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, and remains open for submissions until January 15, 2024. AGFUND's active involvement in COP events underscores its commitment to addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development.
