Riyadh, September 12, 2024 — The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) actively participated in the third Global AI Summit (GAIN Summit), organized by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) from September 10 to 12 at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh. The academy was represented by its Artificial Intelligence Center for Arabic Language Processing, which showcased a series of strategic initiatives centered around artificial intelligence (AI) during the exhibition.
As the first specialized center for Arabic natural language processing (NLP), the Artificial Intelligence Center focuses on leveraging AI to develop innovative tools and applications for interacting with the Arabic language across various platforms. The center plays a critical role in advancing the field of Arabic NLP by using AI techniques to enhance scientific research and create practical solutions for language processing. Its mission is to build a thriving research community that contributes to the development of linguistic resources, computational tools, and training programs aimed at solving challenges in Arabic language computing.
Launched in November 2023, the Artificial Intelligence Center has quickly become a global hub for research and innovation in Arabic NLP. The center houses five main laboratories: the "Artificial Intelligence Laboratory," the "Data Preparation and Linguistic Resources Building Laboratory," the "Audio and Visual Laboratory," the "Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory," and the "Researchers' Laboratory." These facilities are designed to support researchers worldwide by providing the necessary resources, tools, and opportunities to advance their work in AI and Arabic NLP.
The center’s participation in the GAIN Summit aligns with its broader mission of promoting global collaboration in AI research and fostering the development of cutting-edge technologies that facilitate the use of Arabic in digital and computing environments. By offering training programs, workshops, and research initiatives, the center is at the forefront of creating innovative AI solutions that can significantly impact Arabic language processing.
