Al-Ahsa showcased its rich culinary heritage at the Creative Cities of Gastronomy Exhibition in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia, alongside 18 other UNESCO Creative Cities Network members.

Al-Ahsa, September 14, 2024 — Al-Ahsa, recognized as a UNESCO Creative City, participated in the esteemed Creative Cities of Gastronomy Exhibition held in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. Representing its rich culinary heritage alongside 18 other cities from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), Al-Ahsa collaborated with the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, and the Culinary Arts Commission to present its unique gastronomic traditions.



One of the event's highlights was a live demonstration of Al-Ahsa’s traditional red bread by renowned baker Faisal Al-Rabi'a. His performance impressed international chefs and spotlighted the distinctive flavors of the region. Additionally, craftswoman Ayat Al-Muhaimid showcased recipes for various traditional breads and explored their potential fusion with international cuisines.



Al-Ahsa’s exhibit went beyond culinary offerings to include a vibrant display of local culture and history. The city’s handicrafts and folk arts corner featured live demonstrations of traditional crafts such as wicker weaving, offering visitors a deeper understanding of Al-Ahsa’s rich cultural heritage.
