Al-Baha, March 24, 2025 – Traditional dishes take center stage on Al-Baha’s Ramadan tables, showcasing the region’s deep-rooted heritage and enriching the festive ambiance.
Nestled in a mountainous landscape with a mild climate, Al-Baha is known for its time-honored cuisine, passed down through generations. Signature dishes like assida, haneeth, and marquq are more than just meals—they represent a cultural legacy that the people of Al-Baha are committed to preserving.
Bashayer Al-Ghamdi, a local resident, told the Saudi Press Agency that despite modern advancements, many women in Al-Baha continue to prepare these dishes by hand, using locally sourced ingredients such as dates, grains, and mountain herbs. This practice not only enhances the food’s nutritional and cultural significance but also brings a nostalgic, heritage-infused flavor, making Ramadan in Al-Baha a truly special experience.
