Madinah, March 22, 2025 – Al-Fas-h Mosque, located at the base of Mount Uhud north of Madinah, is a historical landmark commemorating the Battle of Uhud. The mosque, where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is believed to have prayed, attracts visitors worldwide.
Historian Dr. Fouad Al-Maghamsi explained the significance of Al-Fas-h within the historical context of the Uhud area, which includes sites such as Jabal Al-Rumah and Wadi Qanat. The mosque, also known as Uhud Mosque or Sha'b Al-Jerar Mosque, has been preserved and restored over the years.
"The remains of Al-Fas-h Mosque, enclosed by a low stone wall on three sides, measure six meters long and four meters wide," said Al-Maghamsi.
Built from durable black stones, the mosque has survived through centuries and has undergone various restorations, most recently during the reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as part of efforts to restore historical sites.
The mosque’s modest architecture features a rectangular prayer hall and a mihrab made of red bricks. Recent restorations by the Heritage Commission included a wooden roof, a floor made of carefully arranged yellow natural stones, paved surrounding areas, seating, and informative signs.
