RIYADH — Al Hilal has announced that their forward, Aleksandar Mitrovic, will be sidelined for six weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered during the team's 4-3 victory over Al Shabab in the Roshn Saudi League match last Saturday.
Mitrovic, who had scored twice in the game, bringing his league goal tally to an impressive 22 in 22 matches, had to exit the field in the first half due to severe discomfort. This setback is a concern for Al Hilal as they currently enjoy a 12-point lead at the league's summit.
In a statement released on Monday, Al Hilal confirmed the diagnosis: "After undergoing medical examinations, Aleksandar Mitrovic has been diagnosed with a hamstring muscle injury. He will commence a six-week treatment and rehabilitation program."
Manager Jorge Jesus expressed apprehension about Mitrovic's absence, terming the injury as "significant." He also noted the challenge of finding a suitable replacement for a pivotal player like Mitrovic. Jesus highlighted the demanding nature of top-tier competitions and the potential risk of injuries, especially considering Mitrovic's recent national team commitments and extensive travel schedule.
Mitrovic's absence will leave a void in Al Hilal's lineup as they strive to maintain their lead in the league standings and progress in semi-final competitions.
