RIYADH — After a convincing four-goal victory over Al-Riyadh in the third round, Al-Ittihad maintained their lead atop the Saudi Pro League rankings. Karim Benzema, a French player for Al-Ittihad, scored his team's first goal in the league in the 17th minute. Abderrazak Hamdallah scored the team's second goal shortly after with a penalty kick in the 25th minute.
Hamdallah scored Al-Ittihad's third goal and his second of the game in the tenth minute of first-half extra time. In the third minute of extra time in the second half, Saleh Al-Amri put an end to Al-Ittihad's scoring run of four goals.
Additionally, this was Benzema's first time serving as the Saudi team's captain.
Al-Ittihad now has nine points, solidifying their lead in the league rankings after this victory. Al-Riyadh, with its four remaining points, is now in ninth place.
