Al-Mahrah, September 13, 2024 – Governor Mohammad Ali Yasser of Al-Mahrah, accompanied by his deputy, Brigadier Mukhtar bin Awadh Al-Jaafari, and Al-Mahrah’s Undersecretary for Technical Affairs, Engineer Awad Qowizan, visited the ongoing King Salman Medical and Educational City Project. Covering an impressive area of 1 million square meters, this project, led by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), is one of the largest initiatives aimed at boosting Yemen’s health and education sectors.
During the visit, the delegation was guided by the director of SDRPY's office in Al-Mahrah, Engineer Abdullah Basuleiman, who provided updates on the project's progress. This development, once complete, will significantly benefit Al-Mahrah and its surrounding areas by improving both medical services and educational standards.
The King Salman Medical and Educational City will feature a state-of-the-art hospital with 110 beds, outfitted with modern medical technology. It will include outpatient clinics, a radiology department, a medical laboratory, an endoscopy unit, and emergency and intensive care facilities for adults, children, and women. The hospital will also be equipped for major surgeries, with specialized rooms and comprehensive medical equipment, along with a dedicated cardiac care and catheterization unit.
The hospital is in its final stages of construction, having completed civil and architectural works. Upon completion, it is expected to meet the healthcare needs of Al-Mahrah and nearby areas, providing advanced medical services.
SDRPY has implemented numerous projects across Yemen to support the health sector, including the construction and renovation of hospitals and medical centers, the training of medical staff, and overall development support for eight key sectors such as education, energy, water, and transportation.
