Tehran, March 21, 2025, Al-Nassr and Iran's Esteghlal played to a goalless draw today at Azadi Stadium in Tehran in the first leg of the AFC Champions League Elite 2024/25 Round of 16.
The match began with high intensity, as Al-Nassr created the first significant opportunity when Marcelo Brozović's shot from inside the box missed the right post in the 6th minute. Two minutes later, Ayman Yahya’s shot went over the crossbar.
Esteghlal goalkeeper Hossein Hosseini made a key save in the 20th minute, stopping a powerful close-range attempt from Jhon Durán.
In the second half, Al-Nassr came closest to scoring when Durán was one-on-one with the goalkeeper in the 57th minute, but Hosseini managed to deflect his shot out for a corner.
Despite continued efforts from both teams, the match ended in a draw, with the tie to be decided in the second leg on March 10 at King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh.
