On September 22, 2024, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), participated in the high-level event titled "Building a Better World Together: The Future of Humanitarian Action." This event was held alongside the Summit of the Future during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. In his speech, Al Rabeeah emphasized the importance of addressing the challenges and opportunities in humanitarian action, aligning these efforts with the core principles of the UN Charter and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He highlighted the pressing issues facing humanitarian efforts today, including violations of international humanitarian law, conflicts, displacement, and natural disasters.
Al Rabeeah reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to humanitarian efforts through KSrelief, which has implemented over 3,000 projects in 102 countries since its inception in 2015, with a budget exceeding $7 billion. He stressed the necessity of sustainable solutions and accountability to affected populations. Among the key initiatives mentioned was the Saudi Masam Project, which focuses on clearing explosive remnants in Yemen, significantly improving public safety and access to essential services. Al Rabeeah concluded by advocating for multilateral approaches to enhance collective humanitarian efforts and the importance of integrating humanitarian action with development and peace initiatives.
