RIYADH — In a remarkable debut for their new Croatian head coach Igor Biscan, Al-Shabab football team secured a 2-0 victory against Al-Tai during the 10th round of the Saudi Pro League at their newly inaugurated stadium.
Under Biscan's guidance, Al-Shabab successfully ended their recent winless streak, which had seen them suffer a 2-0 defeat against Al-Hilal in the eighth round and a subsequent 2-2 draw with Al-Riyadh. Biscan deployed a starting lineup featuring Kim Seung-gyu, Fawaz Al-Suqoor, Iago Santos, Roman Saiss, Hussain Al-Sobyani, Gustavo Cuellar, Hussain Al-Qahtani, Ever Banega, Hatim Al-Bahri, Yannick Carrasco, and Habib Diallo.
The team exhibited their strength in the new stadium, with Carrasco narrowly missing an early opportunity that struck the post. The guests mounted a response with a header that hit the crossbar of the Korean goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu, leading to a goalless first half.
Five minutes into the second half, Habib Diallo secured a lead for Al-Shabab by capitalizing on Carrasco's shot, which had rebounded off Al-Tai's goalkeeper Victor Braga. Al-Shabab held onto their lead, and in injury time, Hussain Al-Qahtani sealed the victory with a second goal at the 90+5-minute mark.
Al-Shabab currently occupies the 10th position in the league, having accumulated 12 points from 3 wins and draws each, along with 4 losses. On the other hand, Al-Tai remains at 7 points, placing them 16th in the rankings.
