Jeddah, 5th of June, 2024 In the first round of the nine-ball World Pool Championship, Saudi Arabian billiards player Abdullah Al-Shammari won a match that will go down in history.
Al-Shammari won a thrilling match against the top-seeded player, David Alcaide, with a score of 9-7.
This outstanding victory brought Al-Shammari to the edge of the Round of 64 of the competition he longed for. The next match ahead is against the Chinese well-experienced Ko Ping Han.
The best Saudi Arabian players and the top 100 players from every corner of the globe are playing in this round. This is going to be a major challenge for Al-Shammari and the other Saudi players in their efforts to move further into the higher rounds of the tournament.
This year's championship marks the first time that Saudi Arabia, one of ten consecutive tournaments scheduled to take place in the Kingdom, hosts the event.
The Ministry of Sport is supervising the event. The Saudi Billiard and Snooker Federation is the organizing institution for the event, in association with the World Nineball Tour.
