Al-Shikh announces prestigious tennis tournament in Riyadh this October

Riyadh, February 07, 2024, Advisor Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al Al-Shikh, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), revealed plans for a prestigious new tennis tournament slated to take place in Riyadh this coming October. Dubbed the "6 Kings Slam," the event promises to be a highlight of the Riyadh Season 2024 extravaganza.

Featuring an impressive lineup of top-tier talent, the tournament boasts the participation of six of the world's most esteemed tennis players, collectively holding an astonishing tally of around 50 Grand Slam titles. Among these luminaries is none other than Novak Djokovic, the reigning world number one and widely regarded as one of the greatest male tennis players in history. Djokovic expressed his enthusiasm for returning to Riyadh, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to showcase his skills before his devoted Saudi Arabian fan base.

Joining Djokovic is Rafael Nadal, a titan of the sport with an illustrious career boasting 22 Grand Slam victories. Nadal expressed his delight at being part of the inaugural "6 Kings Slam," eagerly anticipating his debut in Riyadh and relishing the chance to compete in this prestigious event.

Adding to the star-studded lineup is Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz, who triumphed in the Riyadh Season Tennis Cup 2023 and currently holds the second spot in the world rankings. Alcaraz expressed his joy at returning to Riyadh, eager to demonstrate his prowess on the court once more.

Daniil Medvedev, the former US Open champion and current world number three, also expressed his excitement at returning to Saudi Arabia for the tournament. Having visited the country multiple times since his first trip in 2019, Medvedev looks forward to being part of this exciting new event, highlighting the thrill of competing alongside the world's best players.

Jannik Sinner, the rising star who clinched his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open earlier this year, eagerly anticipates his debut in Riyadh. Ranked fourth in the world, Sinner expressed his enthusiasm for competing against a formidable lineup of players in what promises to be a thrilling tournament.

Joining these esteemed athletes is Danish sensation Holger Rune, currently ranked seventh in the world. Rune expressed his delight at the opportunity to compete in Riyadh for the first time, acknowledging the caliber of his fellow competitors and looking forward to the challenge ahead.
