AlUla, November 24, 2024 – The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) is proudly participating in the fifth edition of the International Dates Conference and Exhibition, a prominent global event centered around the theme “World of Dates.” The conference, which gathers industry leaders, experts, and agricultural innovators, serves as a vital platform for exchanging knowledge, expanding market opportunities for Saudi dates, and promoting cutting-edge innovations in date cultivation. This year’s participation is part of AlUla's ongoing efforts to elevate the region’s date production to a global standard, reinforcing its position as a major player in the international dates industry.
At the heart of the RCU’s showcase are 12 local farms from AlUla, where dedicated farmers are not only exhibiting their top-quality dates but also sharing their expertise and passion for date farming. The farms, renowned for their distinct varieties, including Barni, Medjool, and Hilwah dates, highlight the region’s agricultural heritage and its potential for future growth in this sector. These varieties, famed for their exceptional taste and quality, have put AlUla on the map as a hub of date cultivation excellence.
In a notable achievement on the sidelines of the exhibition, the RCU Agriculture Center received the prestigious 2024 Excellence Award in Innovative Palm Tree Technologies from the National Center for Palms and Dates. This recognition underscores the center’s pioneering efforts in agricultural sustainability and innovation. The award celebrates RCU’s initiatives, such as the establishment of agricultural waste recycling and composting stations, which aim to reduce environmental impact while boosting the efficiency and productivity of palm cultivation. These efforts align closely with the Kingdom's broader vision for sustainable agricultural development under Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes environmental responsibility alongside economic growth.
The RCU’s involvement in the International Dates Conference and the recognition of its Agricultural Center reflect its continued commitment to advancing both the agricultural heritage of AlUla and the modern, sustainable practices that will shape the future of the region’s farming industry. By fostering innovation and embracing sustainable practices, the RCU is not only contributing to the local economy but also setting a global standard for the production of dates.
