ALULA — The AlUla Tour, eagerly anticipated as Saudi Arabia's exclusive UCI World Tour event, is scheduled to take place from January 30 to February 3, 2024. Organized by the Ministry of Sport and the Royal Commission for AlUla in collaboration with the Saudi Cycling Federation and the International Cycling Union (UCI), this marks the fourth edition of the race and is a significant component of the AlUla Moments sporting season.
The AlUla Tour will bring together 119 cyclists from 17 global teams, including elite UCI World Tour teams, UCI Continental teams, and promising cyclists from Saudi Arabia. The race aims to showcase the breathtaking natural beauty of AlUla, highlighting its historic and world-famous heritage sites.
Abdullah Al-Wathlan, Chairman of the Saudi Cycling Federation, and Vice Chairman of the Arab Cycling Federation, expressed excitement about the event, noting its emergence as a major local, regional, and international cycling event. He anticipates welcoming some of the best cyclists to AlUla, emphasizing the unique location's global exposure.
The five-stage tour, designated as part of the UCI Asia Tour and categorized as a 2.1 event, will traverse the challenging terrain of AlUla, catering to sprinters, explosive riders, and climbers. The race has contributed to establishing Saudi Arabia as a premier cycling destination since its inception in 2021.
The lineup of teams, riders, and stages for the AlUla Tour will be announced later this year. Phillip Jones, Chief Tourism Officer of the Royal Commission for AlUla, expects the race to elevate the cycling experience, showcasing the best of AlUla as a sporting destination.
Promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through cycling aligns with the key goals of the Saudi Cycling Federation and contributes to the social and economic transformation envisioned in Vision 2030.
