An attempt to smuggle 160 kg of Khat is thwarted by Jazan border guards.

One attempt to smuggle 160 kg of khat was foiled by Border Guard patrols in the Jazan area on June 1, 2024.


The person responsible for the smuggling has been charged with a crime, and the relevant authorities have received the confiscated goods.


The public is being urged by security authorities to report any information regarding drug sales or smuggling by contacting the General Directorate of Narcotics Control at 995 or [email protected], or by calling emergency numbers 999 or 911, depending on the area. Report confidentiality will be upheld.



On 1st June 2024, Border Guards successfully foiled the attempt to smuggle 160 kg of khat into the nation in the Jazan area. We lodged a complaint against the individual and handed over custody of the recovered illegal goods to appropriate authorities. The security officials want the public to report any information they have on drug sales or smuggling by calling 999 in the rest of the Kingdom and 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Areas.
