Arab-Chinese Library and Information Experts Conclude 5th Session in Riyadh

Riyadh, December 06, 2023, The 5th session of the Arab-Chinese Library and Information Experts concluded today at the King Abdulaziz Public Library (KAPL) in Riyadh. The meeting, held within the framework of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF), focused on the theme "Library Services Transformation Given Changing of Information Environment."


The two-day event, inaugurated by Vice Foreign Minister Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Kheraiji, featured the participation of KAPL General Supervisor Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, Arab League ambassador Hala Jad, and experts from both Arab and Chinese sides.


In the concluding statement, attendees emphasized the importance of activating the work of the joint executive committee of the Arab-Chinese Digital Library. This committee, comprising representatives from the Secretariat-General of the Arab League, the National Library of China, and KAPL, serves as a permanent mechanism to enhance coordination and support for the digital library project.


The statement encouraged national libraries in Arab countries that are not yet members of the Arab-Chinese Digital Library to join the cultural project and contribute to enriching its content. The participants expressed gratitude to KAPL for hosting the meeting and for its efforts in strengthening Arab-Chinese cultural cooperation. Additionally, they welcomed the decision to hold the next 6th meeting of the Arab-Chinese Library and Information Experts in the People's Republic of China.
