Cairo, November 20, 2024 – The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States is set to host an important international conference tomorrow, titled The Role of the International Community and Civil Society Organizations in Promoting and Respecting the Rights of the Palestinian Child. The two-day event, which will take place in Amman, Jordan, is a direct response to the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinian children amidst the escalating Israeli aggression.
This conference comes as part of a broader initiative by the League of Arab States, following a decision taken during the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs. It aims to bolster Arab collective efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause, particularly in light of the grave violations that have targeted Palestinian children, women, and civilians. These abuses are seen as blatant violations of both international law and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which the State of Palestine is a signatory.
The gathering will bring together representatives from various international organizations, civil society groups, and regional leaders, who will address ways to ensure that the rights of Palestinian children are protected and respected. With growing concern over the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, especially with the continuous impact of military operations on innocent civilians, this conference represents a crucial platform for advocating for the rights and well-being of the most vulnerable populations, particularly children. The discussions will center on mobilizing international support to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian children, highlighting the urgent need for global action to uphold their fundamental rights.
