Cairo, November 12, 2024 — Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, has lauded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leadership in hosting the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit, which took place in Riyadh on November 11, 2024. He expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of Saudi Arabia, under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in ensuring the success of this crucial event. Al Yamahi emphasized that the summit represented a pivotal moment for advocating justice in the Palestinian cause, as well as for coordinating Arab and Islamic efforts to halt the ongoing aggression by the occupying forces in both Palestine and Lebanon.

In a statement released today, Al Yamahi reflected on the summit’s outcomes, describing them as a significant achievement for Arab and Islamic solidarity. He highlighted that the summit had mobilized international efforts to address the ongoing violence faced by the Palestinian people and to respond to the escalating aggression in Lebanon. The Arab Parliament speaker commended the resolutions passed during the summit, which reaffirmed the Arab and Islamic stance on the Palestinian issue, with a clear call for the international community to rally behind Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.

A core tenet of the summit’s resolutions was the reaffirmation of the principle that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital, is fundamental to achieving lasting regional peace and security. Al Yamahi reiterated the Arab Parliament’s steadfast support for all efforts—Arab, Islamic, and international—that aim to end the ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Lebanon.

The summit also addressed the urgent need for accountability, urging the International Criminal Court (ICC) to expedite legal proceedings against those responsible for perpetrating crimes of genocide, forced disappearances, mass graves, forced displacement, and other egregious war crimes and violations of human rights committed by the occupying forces. Al Yamahi called for swift and decisive actions to hold the perpetrators accountable for their role in the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian and Lebanese populations.

This statement underscored the Arab Parliament’s unwavering commitment to advocating for justice, peace, and stability in the region, as well as its dedication to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in their struggle for independence and sovereignty.
