Arab Parliament to File ICC Complaint over Israeli War Crimes against Palestinians

Arab Parliament Speaker, Adel Al-Asoumi, has announced the parliament's intention to lodge a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate war crimes committed by the Israeli occupying power against Palestinians. Al-Asoumi revealed this step during a press conference held recently, where Palestinian representative Ambassador Mohannad Aklouk was also present. The Arab Parliament's plan includes urging the UN General Assembly to convene and intervene in the conflict if the Security Council fails to act. Additionally, Arab countries will be urged to endorse the proposal, the Palestinian Authority will be encouraged to file a case with the ICC, and support will be given to lawsuits submitted by Djibouti and the Comoros for investigation of Israeli violations. Al-Asoumi praised the efforts made by several Arab countries in the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit to halt the war in Gaza and establish a peace process based on international legitimacy. He emphasized the need for a dedicated legal committee to address violations against Palestinians and compile a robust dossier to be presented to the ICC. Al-Asoumi also highlighted the Arab Parliament's push for the UN General Assembly to follow the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice regarding Israeli crimes in Gaza. Meanwhile, Aklouk raised concerns about Israel's unlawful actions, such as targeting hospitals and schools for military purposes, and called for immediate relief and the cessation of forced displacement of Palestinians.
