The 12th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers was held in Khiva, Uzbekistan, on June 2, 2024.
In the conference, with participation from the Arab Tourism Organization, developing the tourism industry was a further goal of the conference, to be based in a sustainable and flexible mode.
Cairo was announced as the Tourism Capital of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States for the year 2026, due to its strong infrastructure and Islamic heritage sites.
Khiva, Uzbekistan, 2nd June 2024.\" During the 12th session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers, held in Khiva, Uzbekistan, the Arab Tourism Organization was in attendance. The title of the conference was Developing the Tourism Industry in a Sustainable and Flexible Manner, conducted alongside the celebration of Khiva as the tourism capital of the Islamic world for the year 2024.
Cairo was selected as the Tourism Capital of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States for the year 2026, according to the announcement made by Dr. Bandar bin Fahd Al Fuhaid, President of the Arab Tourism Organization. It was well acknowledged that Cairo has a robust infrastructure, as well as the presence of Islamic heritage structures, historical and archaeological sites.
