Dhahran, December 25, 2023, Aramco Digital and Intel have announced plans to establish Saudi Arabia's first Open Radio Access Networks (Open RAN) center. This collaboration aims to accelerate the development and implementation of Open RAN technologies, contributing to Saudi Arabia's digital transformation and the goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030. Open RAN is a modern radio network structure that offers increased flexibility, interoperability, and innovation. Aramco Digital will leverage its knowledge of the Kingdom's development needs, while Intel, a leader in computing and communications technologies, will provide expertise in Open RAN technologies. The collaboration includes the creation of an innovation center focused on developing Open RAN technology and fostering collaboration between engineers, researchers, and industry experts. Additionally, the center will offer training and practical expertise in Open RAN and edge computing technology.
