Aramco progresses in Fadhili Gas Plant expansion in Eastern Province

Aramco, a global leader in energy and chemicals, has announced significant progress in its Fadhili Gas Plant expansion project in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. The company awarded engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts totaling $7.7 billion for this major expansion, which aims to enhance the plant's processing capacity from 2.5 to up to 4 billion standard cubic feet per day (bscfd).

The additional 1.5 bscfd of processing capacity is a crucial part of Aramco's strategy to boost gas production by over 60% by 2030, compared to levels in 2021. The expansion is anticipated to be completed by November 2027 and is also projected to increase sulphur production by 2,300 metric tons per day.

Wail Al Jaafari, Aramco's Executive Vice President of Technical Services, emphasized that these contract awards signify Aramco's commitment to expanding natural gas supplies, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and optimizing crude oil utilization for value-added refining and exports. Collaborating with leading international companies, Aramco is driving advancements in gas production, supporting the development of a lower-carbon hydrogen business, and leveraging gas-derived liquids as vital feedstocks for the petrochemical sector.

The EPC contracts for the Fadhili Gas Plant expansion were awarded to renowned firms such as SAMSUNG Engineering Company, GS Engineering & Construction Corporation, and Nesma & Partners, demonstrating Aramco's strategic partnerships in executing this crucial project.
