The Saudi ambassador to Georgia, Salman bin Abdulrahman Al-Sheikh, presented the credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan of Armenia.
At the presidential palace in Armenia's capital, Yerevan, the presentation took place.
After exchange of greetings, the two sides announced to kickstart the diplomatic relations back in 2023.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan accepted the credentials of Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Georgia, Salman bin Abdulrahman Al-Sheikh, on May 31, 2024. At the time, he served as Armenia's ambassador abroad. Within the presidential palace in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, the ceremony was held. Ambassador Al-Sheikh greeted guests during the event on behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. He wished the best for the development, prosperity, and growth of the Armenian people apart from the good welfare and happiness of President Khachaturyan. President Khachaturyan welcomed the Crown Prince—Caretaker of the two holy mosques and His Royal Highness, noting that in 2023, would be an important year for opening relations between Armenia and Saudi Arabia.
