Makkah, June 10, 2024. During the period beginning on the first day of Dhu al-Qa'dah 1445 AH and ending on the 29th day, inspection teams from the Ministry of Commerce made a total of 24,880 visits to commercial firms and centers located throughout the Makkah Region and along its routes. As part of the ministry's operational plan for the Hajj season, this initiative took place at the same time as pilgrims arrived for the process of doing the Hajj. The ministry conducted tours of the Grand Mosque's central area, the Haramain express train, several markets, commercial hubs, sales outlets, gold and jewelry markets, service centers, and gas stations. They also inspected the routes leading to the Two Holy Mosques. On these trips, we were able to uncover 1,259 instant violations. This campaign is part of the seasonal activity plan that the Ministry of Commerce has designed for Makkah, Madinah and the holy places at large. Apart from ensuring that commercial facilities and points comply with the consumer protection system, the program aims to ensure that food products are made available to hajjis and the visitors.
