Aseer Manuscripts Exhibition"" opens at Ahad Rafidah's House of Culture

The exhibition, organized in partnership with the Regional Development Authority, the Libraries Commission, the 'Aseer History Center, and the King Abdulaziz Public Library, features manuscripts, historical documents, coins, and old photographs, some of which are displayed for the first time.


Side events include lectures and panel discussions on 'Aseer’s culture, history, and heritage, with the inaugural lecture by Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdullah bin Hamid focusing on "Social Customs in 'Aseer."


A specialized workshop on manuscript and document restoration is also part of the exhibition, aiming to preserve and educate about historical materials.


Abha, August 18, 2024 – The 'Aseer Manuscripts Exhibition, inaugurated on August 16, 2024, is being held under the patronage of Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the 'Aseer Region and Chairman of its Development Authority. The event is taking place at the House of Culture in Ahad Rafidah Governorate, 'Aseer Region, and showcases a rich array of historical manuscripts and documents that illuminate the region's heritage.


Organized in collaboration with the Regional Development Authority, the Libraries Commission, the 'Aseer History Center, and the King Abdulaziz Public Library, the exhibition features an extensive collection of manuscripts that reflect the cultural and historical depth of the 'Aseer Region. Highlights include historical coins used in 'Aseer at various points in history and a selection of old photographs, some of which are being exhibited for the first time.


In addition to the display, the exhibition offers a series of lectures and panel discussions on topics related to the culture, history, and heritage of the 'Aseer Region. The first lecture, titled "Social Customs in 'Aseer," was delivered by Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdullah bin Hamid. He explored historical customs and traditions of daily life in the region, emphasizing their role in fostering community cohesion.


The exhibition also includes a specialized workshop focused on the restoration of manuscripts and old documents. This workshop aims to educate participants on techniques for preserving and restoring valuable historical texts, ensuring their longevity for future generations.
