The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the Kingdom. After intercepting the smuggling attempt, the Border Guard promptly handed over the seized khat to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
Khat, a stimulant commonly used in parts of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, is classified as an illegal substance in Saudi Arabia due to its harmful effects. The seizure underscores the vigilance and dedication of security forces in preventing the entry of illicit drugs into the country, which can pose significant health and societal risks.
