Riyadh, September 13, 2023, According to a news statement from ASFAR, the Saudi Tourism Investment Enterprise and a Public Investment Fund (PIF) enterprise, an MoU was signed today with the Municipality of Al-Baha to develop tourism projects. The agreement was inked at Cityscape Global, the largest property development networking conference and expo in the world, which was hosted under the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing's aegis. ASFAR CEO Dr. Fahad Bin Mushayt reportedly stated the following about the agreement in the press release: "We aim to invest in promising Saudi cities like Al-Baha to introduce the mountain and agrotourism concept in the Kingdom as part of our mission to improve the tourism sector's offerings to unprecedented levels. We also put a lot of effort into offering a variety of contemporary experiences that combine entertainment and adventure, as well as investing in building up local capabilities to develop an inviting tourism environment in Al-Baha for tourists.
"Al-Baha has great potential, is rich in wonderful vistas, has a charming locale, and has many archaeological sites, some of which have been nominated to be listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites," says Dr. Ali Al-Sawat, the mayor of Al-Baha. We are happy to collaborate with ASFAR to strengthen and enable the tourism industry in Al-Baha, enhance its contribution to the diversification of the national economy, enhance local content, and expose tourists to the region's rich natural and cultural resources.
The MoU, with an emphasis on the retail and hotel industries, is in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to diversify economic income sources, draw in local and foreign investments, and provide work possibilities for Saudi youth, according to a press statement.
