Bangkok, October 19, 2023, The Associated Press reported that on Thursday, shares slumped across Asia. The Nikkei 225 index in Tokyo dropped 1.9% to 31,430.62. The Seoul Kospi fell 1.9% to 2,415.80. The Shanghai Composite index dropped 1.6% to 3,010.03, and the Hong Kong Hang Seng index fell 2.2% to 17,349.79. S&P/ASX 200 Australia is down 1.4% to 6,981.60.
Both the Sensex in India and the SET in Bangkok declined by 0.9%.
In electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, U.S. benchmark crude oil was down 11 cents at $87.16 per barrel.
The benchmark for international prices, Brent crude, dropped 28 cents to $91.22 per barrel.
The dollar dropped in the currency market from 149.93 Japanese yen to 149.80 yen. From $1.0536 to $1.0539, the euro increased.
