Bangkok, April 10, 2024, Asia's stock markets showed a mixed trend on Wednesday, as reported by the AP. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose by 1.9% to reach 17,144.54, while the Shanghai Composite index experienced a slight decline of 0.3% to settle at 3,088.25.
Meanwhile, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index dipped by 0.4% to close at 39,616.51, whereas the S&P/ASX 200 in Sydney saw a modest gain of 0.4%, reaching 7,854.30.
In other regions, India's Sensex saw an uptick of 0.4%, and the SET index in Bangkok climbed by 0.7%.
Shifting focus to commodities, US benchmark crude oil registered a minor increase of 4 cents early Wednesday, reaching $85.27 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Similarly, Brent crude, the international standard, saw a marginal rise of 3 cents, settling at $89.45 per barrel.
Regarding currency markets, the US dollar strengthened slightly against the Japanese yen, rising to 151.77 yen from the previous rate of 151.75 yen. On the other hand, the euro saw a decline, dropping to $1.0852 from $1.0857. These fluctuations reflect the ongoing dynamics in global financial markets.
