Bangkok, March 19, 2024, According to the Associated Press, Asian markets showed a mixed performance on Tuesday:
- Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index gained 0.7% to reach 40,003.60.
- Seoul's Kospi index experienced a decline of 1.1% to settle at 2,656.17.
- Hong Kong's Hang Seng index dropped by 1.2% to 16,526.98, while the Shanghai Composite index in China fell by 0.7% to 3,064.56.
- Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index saw an increase of 0.4% to 7,703.20.
In commodities trading during early Tuesday, US benchmark crude oil dipped by 21 cents to $81.95 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Meanwhile, Brent crude, the international standard, decreased by 23 cents to $86.55 per barrel.
Regarding currency exchange rates, the US dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen, rising to 150.35 yen from 149.14 yen. Conversely, the euro weakened slightly, slipping to $1.0869 from $1.0872 previously.
