The Nikkei 225 in Japan fell by 2.4% to 38,812.24, while Sydney's S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.8% to 7,756.20. Korea's Kospi also dropped by nearly 1.0% to 2,714.84, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 0.8% to 16,594.79.
In the oil market, the price of benchmark US oil increased by 14 cents to reach $86.73 per barrel. This was after it rose $1.16 to settle at $86.59 on Thursday. Brent crude, which is the international standard, saw a rise of 31 cents, reaching $90.96.
Regarding currency trading, the US dollar saw a slight decline against the Japanese yen, falling to 151.24 yen from 151.30 yen. Similarly, the euro also saw a decrease in value, costing $1.0827 compared to $1.0841 previously.
