Asian shares mostly rose with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 0.9%

Tokyo, April 08, 2024, Asian shares mostly rose on Monday, as reported by the AP. Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 surged 0.9% in afternoon trading, reaching 39,347.04. Sydney's S&P/ASX 200 also saw gains, rising by 0.2% to 7,789.10. Korea's Kospi climbed 0.3% to 2,722.89. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index added 0.3%, reaching 16,778.55, while the Shanghai Composite in China dipped 0.6% to 3,050.80.

Benchmark US crude oil prices fell by $1.41 to $85.50 per barrel after a 0.4% increase on Friday. Brent crude, the international standard, also declined by $1.53 to $89.64 per barrel.

In currency markets, the US dollar slightly strengthened against the Japanese yen, reaching 151.82 yen from 151.61 yen. The euro, on the other hand, dipped slightly to $1.0835 from $1.0841.
