Asian Shares Retreat Amidst Awaited Updates on US Consumer Spending and Inflation

Asian shares declined on Monday as investors awaited updates on consumer spending and inflation in the US and other nations, as reported by the AP. Japan's Nikkei 225 dipped 0.5%, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite losing 0.3% and 0.4%, respectively. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 edged down 0.8%, and South Korea's Kospi shed less than 0.1%. In early Monday trading, the 10-year Treasury yield rose to 4.50%. Benchmark US crude declined to $74.97 a barrel, while Brent crude fell to $79.88 a barrel. The US dollar slightly decreased against the Japanese yen and increased against the euro.
