Tokyo, August 28, 2023, The majority of Asian shares were up on Monday, according to the Associated Press. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index for Japan rose 1.8% to 32,195.91 during afternoon trading. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 increased 0.6% to 7,159.80 after statistics on retail sales revealed they increased by an amount greater than anticipated of 0.5%. The Kospi in South Korea increased 0.8% to 2,538.67. The Shanghai Composite increased 1.3% to 3,104.27, while the Hong Kong Hang Seng increased 1.3% to 18,182.87. Benchmark US crude increased 18 cents to $80.01 a barrel in the energy market. The benchmark crude, Brent, increased by 10 cents to $84.58 a barrel. The US dollar dropped in currency trading from 146.40 Japanese yen to 146.38 yen. The price of the euro rose from $1.0798 to $1.0819.
