The Nikkei 225 in Japan saw a modest increase of 0.2%, reaching a level of 31,062.35, while Sydney's S&P/ASX 200 also rose by 0.2% to settle at 6,856.90. The Kospi in South Korea outperformed, surging by 1.1% to close at 2,383.51.
In contrast, Hong Kong's Hang Seng experienced a decline of 0.8%, settling at 17,033.00, while the Shanghai Composite in China managed to gain 0.8%, reaching 2,963.70.
Turning to the oil market, the price of a barrel of benchmark US crude oil increased by 43 cents to reach $85.92 in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude, the international pricing standard, also saw a rise of 50 cents, bringing it to $90.33 per barrel.
In the currency market, the US dollar slightly strengthened, reaching 149.73 Japanese yen from its previous level of 149.71 yen. Similarly, the euro demonstrated a marginal increase, moving from $1.0669 to $1.0683.
